Servers & networks
Williams and Horne IT provides project-based business IT support in Northwich for Windows and Linux servers, networks, storage and backups. The work is scoped around a particular setup, fault or planned change.
Work can cover a business environment, self-hosted applications or a home lab. The approach starts with what is already running and what needs to change, with access, disruption and recovery considered before changes begin.
What we can help with
Define the task. Agree the deliverables. Build around your requirements.
Windows and Linux systems
Configure and administer servers and supporting services, or investigate problems with identity, access and application infrastructure.
Virtual servers
Set up or adjust virtual machines and hosted applications, including work with VMware and Proxmox environments.
NAS and shared storage
Configure storage, file sharing and access arrangements, including Synology systems and storage used by self-hosted services.
Networks and access
Investigate connectivity and configure agreed access routes, including remote access and OPNsense-based networks.
Backup and recovery
Review backup arrangements, configure agreed improvements and check restoration of selected data or services against the project requirements.
Maintenance and security
Plan patching, configure monitoring or address identified weaknesses, with a record of the changes and relevant checks.
What you receive
The result may be a configured system, a completed change or findings from an investigation. Handover includes the agreed checks and useful documentation, such as configuration notes, backup procedures or recovery instructions, so the work can be understood and maintained.
How the project works
Establish the existing setup, the problem or intended change, and who relies on the affected systems. Agree access, timing and recovery arrangements before work begins. A project can focus on one issue or a defined set of improvements, with any ongoing support arranged separately. This service is for defined infrastructure projects and troubleshooting. Include the affected systems, any current support arrangements and the outcome you need when enquiring.
Tell us what you need
Describe the systems involved and what you want to improve or resolve. Include any known faults, planned changes and restrictions on when the work can take place.
Projects are quoted to scope and scheduled individually. Delivery is primarily remote, with on-site work by arrangement.
